This weekend I made:
Homemade rosemary and olive oil whole wheat bread to have with the homemade lentil soup and the fresh salad with homemade honey-thyme lemon zest dressing.
Yup.

LCD Soundsystem, “All I Want,” off This Is Happening (2010)
“Usually I’m pretty purposeful about my grand theft, like stealing the guitar sound from [Robert] Fripp for ‘All I Want’ and stuff like that,” James Murphy told the A.V. Club last June. This comment is the perfect summation of Murphy’s referential aesthetic. It’s the important thing to remember with LCD: Murphy is not writing and recording this stuff hoping that no one notices where he is borrowing from. He’s not living in fear of being discovered. The borrowing, in cases like “All I Want”, is a large part of the point. “There’s all this anxiety that people are going to ‘catch’ you,” he told Joe Colly in a Pitchfork interview. “No one wants to get called out for being derivative or something. It’s like, we’re all making rock. No one’s reinventing the wheel over here. If anything, the balance is struck by not worrying too much about it. So I’m spending my energy trying to make a good song rather than spending my energy trying to cover my tracks.
I love this album. Compare:
“All I Want” vs. “Heroes”
“Drunk Girls” vs. “White Light, White Heat”

I woke up about 15 minutes before before my 9:05am alarm sounded. Stretched a bit and left him sleeping soundly while I headed out for the gym. Ran about two miles, picked up some fresh fruit to have with breakfast and then came home to shower. Woke him up when I was getting changed… nothing made me happier than seeing him smile at me while I was towel drying my hair. Made him an egg, cheese and turkey bacon sandwich on a Wolferman’s English Muffin and I had some Greek yogurt with berries. We drank a blend of Ethiopian and Colombian French Roast coffee from my French press while listening to some local indie station from Utah through my NPR Radio app.
I love mornings like that.
“…..Biker Chef follows “one road warrior … and a cat” who hit the road to discover “the tastier side of America.” The pilot was shot in New Mexico maybe six years ago, and the road warrior in question is Christopher Coppola, a self-described “experimental cook and social alchemist” (the cat in question is Otto). (There’s another amazing clip here.) The show is basically Guy Fieri’s show meets Easy Rider meets Ghost Rider — plus a Burmese cat.
Oh, and speaking of Ghost Rider, it’s no coincidence that Coppola’s voice sounds a lot like Johnny Blaze’s onscreen personage: Biker Chef’s IMDb page reveals he’s the brother of … Nicolas Cage (née Nicolas Kim Coppola). What more do you want, Food Network?! Where else are you going to get someone who rolls up to an organic goat-cheese-maker’s front door and says, while flipping his helmet visor like some goodwill version of the Terminator, “I’m Biker Chef. We’re here to talk about cheese”?….”

I cannot wait to see this. First time I ever heard of them was in 2004ish. First time I ever saw them was Spring 2006. And I’ve been in love ever since and this trailer gives me chills thinking of the memories.

It’s gorgeous out and it makes me want to ride my bike! It’s a Specialized Vita but with armadillo tires. It’s my baby.
It’s 59 degrees outside. The sun is shining. This is not a complaint.
